The 2 connections (as illustrated) that can be confused in the back are the knock sensor and the VTC.

A *possible reason the car ran fine one day and poorly the next *could be corrosion.
It would have had to happen quickly, but the connector could have corroded due to several factors - oils, corrosion existing in the connector being freshly exposed to electricity.

Also beware that changing out injectors in a rail brings the possibility of leaky injectors. Maybe it ran fine the first time because there hadn't been much pressurized time on the rail, but the next morning the oring had dripped enough to cause a problem.

Did you try pulling the plugs and making sure they weren't wet?
